I have written to Peugeot informing them of some major issues with my 307. This letter is in the Letters page. To cut a long story short in the last six months the following faults have occurred in my car
New heated screen required
New indicator stalk required
New Head gasket with all the work involved such as head skimming etc,
It now sounds Noisy as the hydraulic lifters are now faulty!
Carpet required re-fitting as it kept coming away,
Replacement trims round gear stick.
Software faults requiring updates.
HOWEVER THIS IS NOTHING COMPARED TO ...
THE MAJOR SUSPENSION FAULTS THAT PLAGUE THIS CAR. It started with a clunking from the front of the car when going over bumps (pot-holes, speed bumps, the small low curb in front of my garage door)
It went in and was inspected by the technician who said it required an upgrade to the front anti-roll bar. This was done under warranty.
Later on (about 6 weeks later) A new knocking noise appeared. Back to the dealer to be told that it required a new "drop Bar"
A drop bar is the bar linking the anti-roll bar to a strut. Peugeot guarantee them for 12,000 miles. One of mine went a 18,000 miles. They cost over £50 plus VAT each (there are 2 on the front)
Next I notice that the rear of the car is banging a bit to much and that the rear of the car is very random in its position on the road. Also the rear tires are wearing a bit uneven too)
Into the dealer again for a repair. I am told that the rear shock absorbers are worn.
At 20,500 miles and 2 and a half years old I assume that it will be under warranty.
But NO
PEUGEOT only guarantee rear shock absorbers for 2 years.
I have been told by many mechanics including PEUGEOT mechanics, that a shock absorber should last over 50,000 miles before showing signs of wear. But a 307 has defective parts and they fail not long after 20,000.
BE WARNED!!!!! PEUGEOT 307s will cost YOU a lot of MONEY in new suspension parts as it is OF SUSPECT QUALITY
They try not to answer to trading standards but it is time they were brought up to answer the question of why they sell potentially dangerous cars
